There are many benefits to using herbs for your chickens, so here are the top five that I like to use!
Lavender-
Lavender is one of my favorite herbs to use! We use it in the nesting boxes and in their dust bath. To learn more about why your chickens need a dust bath click here. Lavender is known for being very calming, and it will also help keep those unwanted bugs away!

Chamomile-
I love to use chamomile in their nesting boxes because it’s calming and it’s also a great insect repelling herb! This plant also has antibiotic and anti-inflammatory properties, which makes it a great plant to use in salves.
Comfrey-
Comfrey is a great herb to feed to your flock because it is high in calcium, potassium, vitamin A, B12, and even protein. It has analgesic and antiseptic properties, so it is also great to use in salves!
Lemon Balm-
Lemon balm is in the mint family and it is one of my favorite herbs! It is great for repelling rodents and insects, plus it has great antibacterial properties. I use this in my nesting boxes and dust bath and my chickens seem to love it!

Dandelion-
Dandelions are a great treat for your flock! It is high in vitamins A, B, C, D, E, K and it is high in magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, zinc, and iron. It is even said to be a way to help control internal parasites in them. Just don’t feed your chickens any dandelions that have been sprayed or treated with any chemicals.
