I absolutely love my rooster, we inherited him when we moved here and I am so glad that we got him! Today I am going to give you three reasons of why you should get a rooster.
They will give up their life for their ladies
There are so many stories of roosters giving up their life for their ladies. If there is a predator, they will be ready to attack it, even if it may cost them their life. Midnight (my rooster) once had a standoff with a hawk. The girls were behind him hiding in the bushes and he went out in the open staring at a hawk who was one foot in front of him. I quickly ran over there and chased the hawk away, and thankfully it never came back. But that made me appreciate my rooster that much more! He was ready to fight that hawk to protect his ladies.

He will let his girls know if he found a treat
Anytime my rooster finds a treat, he always calls his girls over. He wants to share his treat with them! When I throw them mealworms he makes sure that everyone gets some.

He breaks up hen fights!
When we were integrating our flocks together there were a lot of fights going on, as they were establishing their pecking order. If one of the fights were going on for too long he would run over there and break it up. Integrating them went a lot smoother than I expected because of him helping!

Let me know in the comments if you have a rooster or are wanting one! Or if you have any questions about them.

Hi Dzia Dzia!!!! That is a great question… most chickens are expected to live anywhere from 5-10 years so my guess is that he will be with us for many years to come!!!! Thank you for commenting, and hope you have a blessed day!!!💕
