When it comes to choosing chicken breeds for your flock there are a few questions you should ask yourself. So here are some of the things you should think about or ask yourself!
Questions to ask yourself-
- What is the reason you want chickens? Is it for eggs, meat, or just for pets? This is one of the main factors to consider when trying to decide which breeds you should get.
- What kind of climate do you live in? Do you live in a cold climate because if so then you would want to choose a cold hardy breed?
- How much space do you have? If you don’t have much space then you could choose bantam’s, but if you are wanting to free-range your chickens then choose a breed that is good for free-ranging.

- Are you wanting blue, brown, or green eggs? If you are wanting chickens that lay fun colors then you would need to choose a breed that lays the color that you are wanting.
- What kind of temperament do you like? If you have small children then you would want a more docile breed.
- Will you be wanting to expand your flock in the future? If you will be wanting to expand your flock in the future then you may want to choose a breed (such as Buff Orpingtons) that are known for going broody and raising there chicks!

I hope that some of these questions will be able to help you narrow down your search to find the right breeds for your flock!
