Buff Orpingtons are a beautiful breed with great personalities!
About The Breed
The Buff Orpington is a dual purpose breed, this means that they can be raised for eggs and meat. If you are raising them for meat then they will be ready to harvest when they are around 4-6 months and they weigh about 5-6 lbs. Did you know that Buff Orpingtons are known to go broody and are very great mothers? Our Buff Orpington has raised many chicks and she has done a great job each time! When will they start laying?
Buff Orpingtons will lay around 250 eggs a year and will start laying when they are around 6 months old. They lay a beautiful brown egg, they are one of my favorite brown egg laying breeds!

Are they good for a backyard flock?
Buff Orpingtons are great for a backyard flock! The nice thing about the Buff Orpington is that they aren’t flighty like other breeds, so they do much better in backyard situations.
Overall, this breed is one of my favorites! If you are a beginner or have kids then I would definitely recommend this breed for you.
