Buff Orpington-

Silkie-
Despite their small size Silkies are known for going broody! They also make really good mothers, and will hatch any size of egg!
Cochin-
The Cochin is a beautiful breed that is also known for going broody! Because of their big size they are able to keep more eggs under them than a lot of the other breeds! Read this article here to learn my tips for letting your hen hatch eggs.
Prairie Bluebell Egger-
This breed isn’t necessarily known for going broody, but one of mine did and she was a great mom! So really any of your hens could go broody even if their breed isn’t known for it. To learn more about this breed check out this article here!
Brahma-
These gentle giants are known for going broody, and they make great mothers! They are also known for being very sweet and gentle!
Bonus: The Breed That Didn’t Do Good For Me!
The breed that wasn’t a good mom for us was the Polish! Keep in mind that this is a breed that isn’t known for going broody, so the chances are pretty slim that yours would. Our hen did just fine with sitting on the eggs and hatching them, but she was not a good mother. I think part of the reason is that she can’t see where they are because of the puff on her head.
