Ways you can help keep your flock safe from aerial predators

Here are ways to help keep your chickens safe from aerial predators.

Aerial predators-

  • Hawks, owls, eagles etc…

We are very blessed that in our area we really only have to worry about aerial predators! If your flock free-ranges then you can try to plant some big bushes or trees so that they can hide under them. And if you have a rooster he will also do his best to protect his ladies! Between our rooster and all the bushes around their area we have only lost one chicken to a hawk.

You can also try discouraging the predators by hanging some sort of shining object that will confuse and disorient the birds of prey. As long as you have some areas for the chickens to hide you will likely be fine!
