The White Leghorn- is the breed right for you?

Have you ever heard of this breed? If you own chickens then you probably have heard of this breed because it is very popular. So today I am going to tell you all about the white leghorn!

About the breed

There is a good reason why this breed is super popular. They lay around 280-300 white eggs a year, making them excellent layers! White Leghorns begin laying when they are 4-5 months old. If you are wanting to know about some of the earliest producing breeds then read about them here.

White leghorns are often crossed with other breeds. I have one of the crosses called a Prairie Bluebell Egger, it is a cross between the White Leghorn and an Araucana! White Leghorns have a very fun personality, so if you are wanting a silly chicken then be sure to add this breed to your list. They are super active birds which makes them great free-rangers! So if you have a free-range flock then this breed would make the perfect addition.

If you have this breed then let me know in the comments what your opinion is!
