This might just be a question you are asking yourself if you have newborn chicks inside your home. So today I am going to explain to you what is a good age to let your little chicks outside for the first time!

Chicks have an important temperature that they need to be kept at. So if you have already read that article then you will have an idea of when they can go outside. If the temperature outside lines up with the age that your chicks are then you will be able to let them outside for a short amount of time! We let our chicks outside for the first time when they were 3 weeks old.

But remember that when you let them outside they have to be supervised at all times to make sure that they stay safe and don’t get into any trouble.
Now for the age that they can live outside!
Now the age that you can move them to their coop can vary on the temperature outside and if they are fully feathered. So if it is cold outside then I would recommend waiting a couple weeks longer just to ensure that they won’t get cold. We waited till our chickens were 6 weeks old. Chicks are usually fully feathered between 4-5 weeks old but unless you live in an extremely warm climate I would recommend waiting till they are 6 weeks old.
We live in growing zone 5b so as you can see that it is not a super warm climate. So if you live in a warmer climate, then you would probably be fine letting them live outside at 4-5 weeks or when they are fully feathered.
