Raising baby chicks- the temperature that they must be kept at

Today we are going to talk about the important temperature that newborn chicks need to be kept at, and how long.

Week 1-

Chicks for their first week of life need to be kept at 90-95 F. It is super important that you keep the chicks at the proper temperature so that they grow properly and stay healthy.

Week 2-

In their second week of life, you can decrease the heat down to 85-90 F. If you are unsure if your chicks are at the right temperature just observe how they are acting. If they are huddled closely together then you may have to give them some more heat. And if they are far apart as if they are trying to get away from the heat then that means they are to hot.

Week 3-

Your chicks this week need to be kept around 80-85 F. You are going to continue decreasing the heat about 5 degrees every week.

Week 4-

Chicks in their fourth week of life only have to be kept around 75-80 F. By this time your chicks probably have a lot of their feathers!

Week 5-

Now your chicks have to be kept around 70-75 F. Depending on the temperature outside and how many feathers they have you might be able to move them outside now!

Week 6-

This is the last week that you will have to provide great for your chicks! They just need to be kept around 70 F. and they will be happy.

This is the general temperature that your chicks need to be kept at, but make sure that you are constantly observing their behavior like I said above. By keeping your chicks at the proper temperature they will be a lot healthier and happy!
